I am delighted to share more amazing work from my Finding Fragments course. Much of this course is about experimentation, exploration, and reworking. Sometimes, this can feel daunting as there is not one specific outcome, and it is not always clear exactly where the sampling will lead to. Participants were encouraged to delve deep, investigate, and go off on a tangent if something particularly resonated with them.
They threw themselves into this wholeheartedly, often working in a state of flux and disorder, with many samples and exercises to explore. They negotiated this chaotic stage of artistic play, rescuing ‘failures,’ reworking, and allowing serendipity to play its part. From seeming disorder, they edited, selected, and reordered to create this thoughtful, sensitive, and beautifully presented work.
This approach allows individual responses, making for a very exciting exhibition of contemporary mixed-media work. I hope you will enjoy taking the time to look closely at the intricate details within each piece of work and read about the inspiration and stories behind every submission.
